Today, we live in an international society where one cannot live without expressing one’s thoughts to those around oneself. Here, we realise the importance of learning English, which has been accepted universally. To read the thoughts of many learned men and women worldwide and know their views, one must acquire a fair knowledge of English. The language of English is indispensable in the pursuit of higher education and in keeping abreast of what is going on around society. Having realised all this, I expressed my thoughts by opening up an institute of english in Maharagama. I must gratefully mention the assistance from Mr. and Mrs. E.S Degambada in providing me with a building to commence my classes.
I faced many challenges at the start, as some were afraid that I was trying to encroach on their territories, while others thought I would ruin my future. Looking back, I feel happy today because I have been able to meet the needs of the students. We have successfully guided the students, paving the right path for them. I did not embark on this journey for self-congratulation. I wished to perpetuate the interests of the students to support their aspirations. I want to appeal to all parents to keep their children persevering and conscious of their future. Let them not throw away the opportunities available but keep them well-accessed to mass media through novels, newspapers, films, and podcasts. Wishing the dint of courage and fruitfulness to my dear students, I assure your dear parents that IESM will always remain committed to the correct goal.
